21st Century Data Architecture — From Monolithic Storages to Distributed Data Services

Approaches such as Agile, DevOps, microservice architecture have fundamentally changed the principles of software development in the last decade.
However, in matters of data management, we still rely on architectural solutions proposed at the end of the last century.
Moving towards digital transformation requires processing huge amounts of cleaned, unified data available in real time.
At the same time, IT organizations persist in trying to collect all data in a single monolithic repository, be it a warehouse or a data lake.
